For many years, electric cars have been the subject of debate on energy efficiency. Electric cars, which are lagging behind in range compared to internal combustion vehicles, may be turning a new page with Mercedes. The German automotive giant announced that its concept vehicle has achieved record-breaking energy efficiency at 100 km.

Mercedes-Benz has pushed the boundaries of electric car efficiency with the Vision EQXX concept. The car was recently tested in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. It completed a 1010 km journey in desert conditions with a remarkable energy score of 7.4 kWh per 100 km.

On the record-breaking journey, Vision EQXX traveled from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to Dubai, UAE in 14 hours and 42 minutes. Despite temperatures exceeding 33°C, the EQXX remained energy efficient, beating the distance record for a drive from Germany to the UK.

Another remarkable detail is that the battery still had a range of 309 km when it arrived in Dubai. It was stated that if the conditions remained constant, the Mercedes EQXX could travel a total of approximately 1319 km on a single charge.

The test journey in the desert revealed the efficiency systems of the Vision EQXX. Mercedes also proved that it can significantly reduce the electric vehicle range and withstand harsh temperatures. The heat pump was able to protect the engine without affecting the battery. The solar panels also collected 1.8 kWh of energy along the way, adding 24 km of extra range.

Mercedes said the lessons learned from desert driving will improve efficiency in future electric vehicles. The Vision EQXX continues to push the boundaries for long-distance electric transportation.
