Sea of Thieves: Tops the List of Most Popular PS5 Games
Sea of Thieves is a pirate adventure game developed by Rare and published by Xbox Game Studios. In the game, you and three friends embark on a treasure hunt in an open world, battling other pirates and engaging in typical pirate activities. The game was initially released only for Xbox and PC.
However, in February 2024, Microsoft made a significant decision to bring Sea of Thieves and three other Xbox games to other consoles. This decision turned out to be a huge hit among PS5 players. Sea of Thieves climbed to the top of the PS5 download charts in May.
Alongside Sea of Thieves, there are other popular games on the PS5 console. Helldivers 2, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are also highly favored by PS5 players. On the PS4 side, Minecraft is at the top, followed by Red Dead Redemption 2 and Fallout 4.
Microsoft’s new strategy might evoke mixed feelings among Xbox fans. On one hand, making Xbox games available on other consoles allows more players to experience these games. However, this strategy might reduce the exclusivity of Xbox games and diminish Xbox’s appeal. Currently, Xbox sales are already trailing behind the PS5, and this new strategy might worsen the situation.
