After announcing the Google Wallet it mentioned at I/O 2022, Google finally made it available with a big update. With the big update it has received, Google Pay comes out as Google Wallet. Although the update is unavailable to all users, new users are gradually included.

Google Wallet will replace Google Pay

The application will be updated to Google Wallet. So you don’t need to install a new app. You update the Google Pay app from your device, and that’s all. The update will allow you to view all your digital payment cards on one screen for a clear view. You can access the wallet settings by tapping on your profile picture link. In this section, you can access features such as a payment profile, adding a card from Gmail, accessing transaction details, and card updates.

As discussed during I/O 2022, the company is looking to shift into a more comprehensive digital wallet. Google Wallet is designed for not only storing your payment cards but car keys; transit passes, hotel keys, concert tickets, and more. The wallet will also contain your digital IDs.

This new wallet update will serve as a way to get rid of your physical wallets. It allows you to combine all your payment options, IDs, and more in one place. Google Pay will continue to be responsible for purchases.

Who Can Use?

The application is designed to be used in many countries, such as Google Pay. It has been introduced gradually. In most countries, Wallet will be replacing the current Google Pay app. However, Google said that users in the US and Singapore would use both Google Pay and Wallet. In those countries, Google Pay will stick around as a way to send friends money. Meanwhile, India will stick with the redesigned Google Pay app and have no Wallet access. You can check in the app from time to time to see if you have the update.
