Kia has given its popular compact crossover, the Stonic, a second facelift, launched in 2017. The new Stonic features a modern design, hybrid powertrain options, and updated digital features. First introduced in the brand’s home country of Korea, the model competes with rivals such as the Ford Puma and Nissan Juke. The arrival of the European version has not yet been announced.

Updated with Kia’s “Opposites United” design language, the Stonic has a look that aligns with the brand’s next-generation EV3 model. The car’s front end features revised headlights, grille, and bumper design. While the vehicle’s dimensions remain unchanged, it measures 4,165 mm long and 1,760 mm wide. Trunk space remains at 352 liters.

Regarding engine options, two different powertrains are available in Korea. Both engines are derived from the 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline unit. The standard version produces 100 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 11 seconds.

The mild hybrid version boasts 115 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.7 seconds. Both engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic transmission. Technical details for the European market will be announced at a later date.

The new Stonic’s equipment list has also been updated. In addition to updated 16- and 17-inch wheel options, the interior features dual 12.3-inch digital displays and multi-mode touch controls. Connectivity features include a digital key fob, advanced smartphone integration, and cloud-based services.

On the safety front, ADAS technologies such as a blind spot warning system, collision avoidance assist, and smart cruise control are now standard. What do you think of this car? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
