German automaker Opel has released the first official teaser images of the facelifted version of its popular compact model, the Astra. The updated face of the current Astra, introduced in 2021, is coming soon with significant design changes and new details. The shared photos provide definitive clues about the upcoming evolution in the vehicle’s design.
The new Opel Astra is coming soon
The new Opel Astra is undergoing a significant change, particularly at the front. The German brand reveals that this design update was inspired by the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept.
In this context, the headlights with updated lighting signatures and the illuminated Opel logo are the most striking elements on the front fascia. The released images also reveal a section of the vehicle’s rear end and the design of its new alloy wheels.
The facelifted Astra will continue to be offered in the station wagon body style known as the Sports Tourer. Engine options are expected to be similar to those found in the facelifted version of the Peugeot 308, which shares the same platform.
These options include a 130-horsepower diesel, a 145-horsepower mild hybrid, and a 195-horsepower plug-in hybrid powertrain. The Opel Astra Electric, a fully electric version, also maintains its position in the model range.
According to reports, the electric Astra is likely to launch with a larger battery and increased range, similar to the Peugeot 308. Opel has confirmed that the world premiere of the refreshed Astra will take place “very soon.” More detailed information about the car’s technical details and design will be shared by Opel in the coming days.
