Microsoft has ended its long-standing Windows 12 claims and announced that the new operating system version will be Windows 11 25H2. The company plans to offer this update to all users in the second half of 2025. For now, only the preview version is available to users registered with the Windows Insider program.
Windows 11 25H2 update is available
Windows 11 25H2 technically works on the same basis as the previous version 24H2. Thanks to this structure, the transition of systems using 24H2 to the new version can be completed with a simple restart.
The extensive file changes and system transformations seen in past version transitions are not included in this update. The first preview structure released now is the same content that was previously distributed in the Beta channel under the name 24H2. There are no new features yet.
In the statements made by Microsoft, it is stated that the innovations to be developed with the release of 25H2 will not be limited to this version only, and some features will be integrated into the 24H2 and in some cases 23H2 versions. This structure signals that the updates will be distributed gradually and with broad-based compatibility.
The exact release date of 25H2 has not been announced. However, the update is expected to be released in the September-October 2025 period. This date range coincides with the October 2025 end of the official support period of Windows 10.
With the new version, Microsoft has also clarified the support period plans that concern both individual users and corporate structures. 25H2 will receive 35 months of support for corporate versions and 24 months for individual and Pro versions.
No major interface changes or radical structural transformations are expected in the new version. A clear answer has been given to the rumors about the future of Windows 12. Microsoft is continuing its approach of improving the existing platform and has no plans to introduce a completely new operating system in the short term.
