The number of X (Twitter) users is melting like ice cream: Here are the numbers!

As you know, X (formerly Twitter) introduced a highly controversial feature last week. According to this change, if your account is not set to private, the users you blocked will now be able to see your tweets. This strange decision caused outrage among the user base, leading to a mass exodus from the social media platform.

X has lost nearly half a million users!

After this change, a significant number of users began migrating to the rival platform Bluesky. In fact, there was such a massive influx that Bluesky’s servers temporarily crashed due to the overwhelming demand. The Bluesky management announced that they gained over 100,000 new users in just 12 hours following X’s controversial decision. This figure reached half a million within a day.

The new blocking policy has drawn significant criticism, especially from users concerned about cyberbullying and follower harassment. In the previous system, blocked users couldn’t see any content and were simply informed that they were blocked. However, with this new change, blocked users can now view posts but cannot interact with them.

Bluesky, a project by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, took advantage of this opportunity by emphasizing that its blocking system is much more comprehensive. On Bluesky, blocked users cannot access any content at all.

Another key reason for the user exodus is X’s updated privacy policy. Under the new policy, unless users explicitly opt out, their content may be used to train third-party AI models. Previously, data was only used for Elon Musk’s own AI project, Grok, but this new change significantly expands its scope.

Experts note that X’s recent controversial decisions have seriously damaged the platform’s credibility and user loyalty. The rollback on privacy and security measures, in particular, has driven many users to explore alternative platforms.
