The beloved comedy series The Office is returning with new episodes set in Australia. Amazon Prime Video has released the first visual for the Australian-made version of The Office, which will premiere on October 18. Felicity Ward will star as Hannah Howard, the first female boss of the series.
The Office Legend Moves to Australia
Following the American version that began on NBC in 2005 and ran for nine seasons, The Office is now making a comeback with episodes set in Australia. The original show, with Steve Carell’s unforgettable character Michael Scott, left a lasting impression and built a massive global fanbase.
The new Australian version aims to bring a fresh perspective to the beloved formula, adapting it to the southern hemisphere. The series will feature Hannah Howard, the executive manager of a packaging company named Flinley Craddick, who receives news from headquarters that her branch will be closing and employees will be working from home. She will make various promises to keep her staff in the office, setting the stage for the series.
The cast includes Edith Poor, Steen Raskopoulos, Shari Sebbens, Josh Thomson, Jonny Brugh, Susan Ling Young, Raj Labade, Lucy Schmidt, Zoe Terakes, Pallavi Sharda, and Claude Jabbour. Susie Youssef, Justin Rosniiak, Carlo Ritchie, Rick Donald, and Chris Bunton will appear as guest stars.
With the Australian version, The Office is set to once again explore the absurdities of office life and the comedic aspects of everyday experiences. Scheduled to air on Prime Video on October 18, the series aims to captivate both fans of the original show and new viewers. The potential success of this version might even pave the way for a new series featuring Steve Carell.
