According to screenwriter and producer Terry Rossio, the producers of the Pirates of the Caribbean series have started negotiations with Johnny Depp. Accordingly, the famous actor is slated to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow.
In an interview on the subject, Rossio said that Depp could return to the set despite allegations of harassment against the actor. The famous actor, who stayed away from the big screen due to the incidents with Amber Heard, may return as Jack Sparrow.
Depp lost his role in the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie following accusations by his ex-wife Amber Heard. However, Rossio pointed out that Depp corrected his behavior after the lawsuit. The screenwriter of the series stated that he believes Depp can return to the set.
He also said that it was more important to find the right script, financing and bring together the right cast. In this context, it is very important to have Johnny Depp in the lead role. Rossio said names like Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley could be in the movie.
Accordingly, he wanted the main cast of the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie to return and director Gore Verbinski to prepare a new movie. In his statement, he said, “That was the best pirate movie. We had so much fun the first time. Let’s do it again,” he said. Disney, the production company, has not confirmed any project.
