The highly anticipated virtual reality adaptation of Rocksteady’s popular superhero series, Batman: Arkham Shadow, is set to release on October 22, 2024, for Meta Quest 3 and the newly announced Meta Quest 3S.
Batman: Arkham Shadow Coming This October!
As an official part of the Arkhamverse, Arkham Shadow focuses on a timeline that takes place before Arkham Asylum but after Arkham Origins. Players will encounter familiar villains such as Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, and Two-Face, as well as Jim Gordon. The story will also feature the newly introduced character, Ratcatcher.
In terms of gameplay, the classic elements of the series are retained, including stealth, combat, grappling, gadgets, and Detective Vision. This time, however, players will experience everything from Batman’s perspective. The developer, Camouflaj, known for projects like Iron Man VR, aims to provide an authentic Arkhamverse experience, with support from Bill Green, a design director who is a former employee of the series.
Tom Phillips from Eurogamer had the opportunity to experience the game early and expressed his admiration, stating, “The game absolutely utilizes all the possibilities that VR has to offer and successfully recreates Rocksteady’s original work.”
Owners of Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S will be able to don Batman’s cape and roam the streets of Gotham, battling villains with real punches starting from October 22. The price of the game has not yet been announced, but it has been revealed that the game will be included as a gift with new Meta Quest 3 and 3S purchases until April 30, 2025.
