As of now, the iPhone 15 series, which Apple unveiled on September 12th, is available for pre-order in Europe. But how is the 5G performance of the new iPhone series? A recent report sheds light on the 5G connection speeds of the top-tier Pro models in the series.
5G performance of iPhone 15 Pro revealed
According to a 5G speed test shared by SpeedSmart, the iPhone 15 Pro includes American carriers AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. As a result, the smartphone offers users a 24% increase in 5G speeds compared to the previous generation.
This increase in the 5G performance of the iPhone 15 Pro can be attributed to the enhanced 5G modem used in the phones. While Apple has not officially disclosed the modem used in these products, the report highlights that the Pro models are equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X70 modem.
Although there have been rumors in recent times about Apple developing its own 5G modems, the company has extended its modem supply agreement with Qualcomm until 2026. This means that Apple will continue to use Qualcomm’s modems in its iPhone lineup for a few more years. According to speculations, we may see Apple-manufactured 5G modems in the company’s smartphones starting from 2027.
