Apple held the highly anticipated Wonderlust event yesterday, where they unveiled a series of new features alongside the iPhone 15 and Apple Watch products. Satellite-assisted Road Assistance is coming to iPhones!
Apple held the Wonderlust event that we’ve all been eagerly waiting for last night. Alongside the introduction of the iPhone 15 and Apple Watch models, the company also announced several features. One of these features is the Road Assistance feature.
This feature, which is effective for the safety of iPhone users, has been expanded further with the support of the American Automobile Association (AAA). Thanks to this feature, dealing with vehicle-related emergencies while outside of cellular coverage areas will become easier.
One particularly noteworthy aspect is the satellite support. As you may recall, last year with the iPhone 14, the Emergency SOS feature via satellite was introduced. The new feature will seamlessly integrate with this capability on iPhones.
The Road Assistance feature will come in handy when you’re stranded on the road, run out of gas, or even experience a flat tire. Moreover, it will integrate an Emergency Text option to work even in situations where there is no cellular or Wi-Fi coverage.
When users wish to use this feature, they will fill out the survey provided by Apple and share the information with AAA. AAA will then use this information to determine the user’s location and dispatch a assistance team. However, there’s an important point to be aware of here: the satellite feature requires an unobstructed line of sight to work. Therefore, this feature may not function in densely forested or heavily wooded areas.
