At the Xbox Gamescom showcase, Evil Empire finally confirmed that The Rogue Prince of Persia will be heading to Switch and Switch 2 later this year. The stylish roguelike has been in early access on PC, but this marks the first official word on a Nintendo release.

Unlike Ubisoft’s more traditional entries, this version leans into roguelike design. It mixes quick combat and platforming with the fast reset loop Evil Empire perfected while working on Dead Cells. Expect familiar moves like wall-running, stomps, and kicks, now folded into a run-based structure.

Starfield Switch 2 Rumour Suggests 2026 Release

Starfield is rumoured for Switch 2 in 2026, following Xbox’s multiplatform push and Indiana Jones’ confirmed release on Nintendo’s system.

Evil Empire’s take focuses on replayability, discovery, and fluid movement. Players can:

Every run reshuffles the city thanks to procedural generation, ensuring no two sessions feel the same.

A story built for repetition

You begin in an oasis outside the capital after a devastating battle. Each time you fall, a magical bola resets you to the start, urging you to push deeper into the city. This structure ties narrative progression to gameplay, rewarding persistence with new characters, lore, and zones.

While other platforms received the full release today, Switch players will get their turn later in 2025. That includes next-gen owners, as the game has been confirmed for Switch 2 alongside current hardware.

For fans of Dead Cells and classic Prince of Persia flair, this roguelike promises to be one of the standout indie action titles closing out the year.
