iPhone 16 shipments to be lower than last year
Even with just 8 hours left until the event, the leaks keep coming. Today, supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared predictions regarding the iPhone 16 series shipments that Apple is expected to announce. According to the reports, iPhone 16 shipments and sales are expected to be lower than those of the iPhone 15 series.
Last year, 91 million iPhone 15 units were shipped during the same period. This year, expectations for the iPhone 16 series have dropped to 89 million units. Apple appears to be aligning production and shipment numbers closely with the anticipated sales. This suggests that Apple is expecting a slight decrease in sales for the iPhone 16.
According to Kuo, Apple’s lower sales expectations are partly due to the 5x zoom lens introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which didn’t generate as much demand as anticipated. Additionally, Apple reportedly increased its shipments in August and September compared to last year.
Reports indicate that Apple has prepared between 15 and 17 million iPhone 16 units for pre-sale. Among the models, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to be the most popular, with 38% of the sales, followed by the iPhone 16 Pro at 30%.
