The second prototype of the National Combat Aircraft (MMU) KAAN, one of the most critical projects in the Turkish defense industry, was revealed to the public for the first time during a visit by a delegation from the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TAFF) to Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ) facilities.
Second prototype of the MMU KAAN was spotted
During this visit, attended by TUSAŞ executives and senior TAFF officials, photos and video recordings of the second prototype were shared by Turkish defense news outlets. These images are considered concrete evidence of the progress of the domestic multi-role combat aircraft project.
Following the testing and development of the first prototype, the second prototype likely incorporates conceptual improvements, aerodynamic adjustments, and electronic system optimizations based on data obtained from the first model.
The shared images clearly show the aircraft’s outline, landing gear, and fuselage details. This indicates that engineering work on the KAAN project has advanced and that the project is on a planned course.
The KAAN project holds strategic significance for Turkey’s pursuit of its goal of increasing its domestic and national air force. The visualization of the second prototype confirms that the project is progressing rapidly and on schedule.
This development is considered a step that brings significant prestige to the country in terms of both its military capacity and its defense industry. It is understood that the intermediate versions of the aircraft, which will progress to the final production version, will proceed as planned.
In the coming period, an increase in test flights is expected, weapon system integrations are completed, and domestic software and avionics modules are expected to be deployed on the aircraft.
