Technology companies have been placing significant emphasis on user privacy, especially in recent times. To this end, they have been conducting various initiatives. One such company is Google. The company is introducing a repair mode to protect user privacy while repairing Android devices.

This feature allows users to send their devices for service without any concerns about their personal data. Repair mode is particularly relevant for users who are worried about data privacy when they send their phones for repair.

Dimensity 9300 and 120W fast charging: The launch date of the Vivo X100 series has been clarified!

An exact date has been given for the Vivo X100 series, which includes Vivo's new flagship models. Here is the launch date of the X100 models.

The support for repair mode is integrated with the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). However, it is disabled by default, as different OEMs, such as Samsung, may have similar features. Additionally, there are a few missing elements in the AOSP that currently affect the Settings integration and the flow of repair mode.

The new feature differs from the traditional Generic System Image (GSI) approach by leveraging the Dynamic System Updates (DSU) mechanism. Instead, it simulates a factory reset by combining the original system image with a new user data image.

While entering this mode, users need to provide their lock screen credentials, which will be securely stored. To exit the repair mode, users simply need to input the lock screen credentials used in Standard Mode.
