Windows Recall postponed to October
Microsoft announced that it is continuing to work on the controversial Recall feature and that it has been postponed. Recall wants to create a customized experience by tracking user activity and history on Windows 11 Copilot+ computers. However, since its introduction, it has faced significant backlash due to privacy concerns.
Recall was originally planned to be released with the new Copilot+ laptops in June. However, Microsoft backed down in the face of criticism and said Recall will be available “in the coming weeks” as part of the Windows Insider Program.
Microsoft has now delayed the preview for the Insider Program and said Recall will be available starting in October. In a statement, the company said the delay was to “deliver a reliable Recall experience”.
It is unclear how the tech giant is working on Recall. Reports suggest that Microsoft is developing new Recall features and pushing back on potentially controversial ones.
