The countdown has begun for the launch of vivo’s upcoming foldable phone, the X Fold 5, which is set to be unveiled on June 25. Day by day, new details about the device are emerging, and the latest development gives us our first real look at the phone. Here’s what we know so far!
vivo X Fold 5 – Live Image Reveals Design
A live image of the vivo X Fold 5 has surfaced, leaving no doubt about the design of the brand’s latest foldable. It clearly shows what users can expect in terms of aesthetics and build quality.
vivo previously announced that the X Fold 3 still holds the record for being the lightest book-style foldable phone, but that record is about to be broken. The X Fold 5 will reportedly weigh less than 219 grams, putting it on par with traditional slab-style smartphones.
The device is also expected to be thinner than its predecessor, yet it will house the largest battery ever seen in a foldable phone – a 6,000mAh cell. This battery contains 12% silicon and is designed to function even in extreme cold conditions as low as -30°C. The hinge mechanism has also been tested at temperatures as low as -20°C.
Additionally, a new “Atomic Workbench” feature will introduce a desktop-like experience, significantly enhancing multitasking capabilities.
What’s more, the X Fold 5 will be the first Android phone to integrate seamlessly with the Apple ecosystem. This feature is aimed at users who own iPhones and want to try a foldable phone without fully leaving Apple’s ecosystem.
