As you may know, following the success of the new God of War series and the release of Ragnarök, it was announced that an adaptation for an Amazon Prime Video series had begun. The series, which is a joint project between Amazon Prime Video and Sony, hit a major roadblock during production when three producers left the project, putting it in limbo. However, good news about the series has finally arrived.
God of War series finds its new producer!
Recently, the departure of Rafe Judkins, along with producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, due to the project evolving in a different creative direction, raised concerns about the series’ future. There were even rumors that the scripts prepared by the team were well-received by both Sony and Prime Video, which led to questions about the reason for their departure.
However, instead of shelving the project, Amazon and Sony made a swift move by bringing industry heavyweight Ronald D. Moore on board. Moore’s career includes groundbreaking productions like the Star Trek series and the 2004 Battlestar Galactica. With God of War, this accomplished sci-fi figure will now venture into the realms of fantasy and mythology.
This development is seen as the first major result of Moore’s deal with Sony TV, signed back in June. Experts believe Moore’s past experiences will be a key advantage in bringing the complex mythological world of God of War to the screen.
The new production team and reshaping process of the project are expected to delay the release date of the series even further. However, there’s some more good news for Kratos fans: The beloved character will appear this December in Amazon’s video game anthology series Secret Level.
The TV adaptation of God of War is considered one of the most exciting projects following the recent success of the game. Announced after the phenomenal success of Ragnarök, the series aims to bring the game’s rich mythological world and compelling story to television screens.
