Think Twice Before Updating to the New Windows 11 Update!

Ana sayfa / News

The Windows 11 update expected to be released in the coming days, which aims to significantly enhance your computer’s security, may also bring serious issues. The update is set to automatically enable the BitLocker feature, which could visibly slow down your computer.

BitLocker, Windows’ built-in disk encryption feature, was previously exclusive to Windows Pro versions. However, to improve the security of all Windows 11 versions, Microsoft plans to make this feature default and automatically enabled after the update.

But what’s the downside? While BitLocker significantly enhances security measures, it can also cause severe performance drops in SSDs.

In fact, Microsoft has previously acknowledged that this feature could lead to performance issues, so either the company believes the performance impact is minimal or they have addressed these problems in the latest updates.

Microsoft pulls the plug on Windows Paint 3D

Paint 3D for Windows 10 and Windows 11 is being discontinued. Microsoft will end support for the app.

In short, if you plan to install the upcoming 24H2 update, it’s recommended to check your SSD performance. If you notice a decrease in performance compared to before, you might want to disable BitLocker and test again.

Finally, let’s talk about the other security measures coming with 24H2: The update will simplify encryption and remove some previously required hardware features. Specifically, devices will no longer need to have hardware features like the Hardware Security Test Interface (HSTI) or Modern Standby to automatically enable encryption.
