ASUS unveiled a new laptop called Project Dali at Computex 2024. The concept device, which arouses curiosity with its E Ink-supporting display, allows personalization of the computer appearance. So can E-ink displays be used in computers?

Project Dali’s entire focus is centered on the display. The concept laptop features a 12-inch 1600 x 1200 pixel E Ink Spectra 6 display. This way, users don’t need to print their own graphics, photos or designs.

If you are asking what an E-ink screen is, this technology, also called electronic ink, is generally used in e-book readers. This screen technology, which offers a very similar appearance to paper, does not consume energy as long as the image does not change. Thus, it allows long hours of use.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 designs leaked online

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 designs have leaked after an image from Samsung Kazakhstan's website ended up on Reddit.

The E Ink Spectra 6 display provides full color image support with minimal power consumption. However, the refresh rate is slower compared to standard displays. It can take 10-12 seconds for an image to completely change.

This means the display is better suited for still images rather than video playback or gaming.

Although it is still a concept device, Project Dali may make it possible to use E Ink technology on laptops. In particular, it is possible to see files that need printing, such as stickers and photos, on a 12-inch screen.

Do you think E-ink displays will become standard in the future? Don’t forget to share your comments with us…
