The automotive world has seen its share of concept cars with interesting designs. While some of these vehicles have been presented to customers, others have been buried in the dark pages of history. Although Oldsmobile’s Aerotech, under the control of General Motors, never made its debut, it is back on social media years later.

The history of the Oldsmobile Aerotech

Before it went out of production in 2004, Oldsmobile made history in 1987 by developing a prototype supercar called the Aerotech. Powered by a pair of turbocharged Quad 4 engines, the Aerotech was built to prove Oldsmobile’s technology.

First shown in 1988, the Aerotech featured three different prototype designs. The most radical design was the one with a long-tailed rear end reminiscent of the McLaren Speedtail. In addition to the design, the 1000-horsepower turbocharged engine also attracted a lot of attention.

The technical specifications of the new generation Skoda Superb have been shared!

The new Skoda Superb aims to achieve significant sales figures with its updated design, increased dimensions, and advanced technologies.

The 1,000 horsepower of the concept car has also been proven on the track. Racing driver A.J. Foyt, who accelerated the Aerotech to 4423 km/h, still holds the record for “highest documented speed for a concept car.

Aerotech’s Quad 4 engine technology was later used in concept cars such as the Cutlass Calais. While the company was working on more ambitious engines, such as the Quad 8 V8, the decision was made to close Oldsmobile. The Quad 8 technology never saw the light of day and Oldsmobile was dissolved in 2004.
