The Aito Wenjie M9 with Huawei HarmonyOS has been tested in dangerous crash scenarios. The tests conducted by the China Automotive Research Institute revealed that the electric SUV model received full marks in safety tests.

The tests conducted in China simulated the Wenjie M9 being crushed between two heavy trucks. In this scenario, dubbed the “heavy truck jam”, the M9 performed successfully and reportedly managed to pass the test.

During the test, the vehicle was pushed by a heavy 30-ton truck. Despite this, it was stated that it maintained its structural integrity and its front bonnet was damaged as expected. The front B, C and D pillars also managed to protect the passengers.

In another test, it collided with an 8-ton truck traveling at 50 km/h. After this accident, all the doors of the Wenjie M9 opened. The emergency lights and emergency call also worked properly. The high voltage system was switched off to ensure safety during the accident. There was no fuel leakage after the accident and it did not cause a fire.

Wenjie M9, which received full marks in these tests, received “Level A” certification in front and rear impact protection against heavy trucks. Aito executives emphasized safety by saying that they used nuclear submarine-grade steel in the vehicle.

On the engine side, the Wenjie M9 is available in two versions: extended range and pure electric. The extended range version consists of a turbo four-cylinder dual electric + hybrid engine. The maximum power of this engine is 112 kW. In addition, battery packs ranging from 42 kWh to 100 kWh offer a range of 630 km on a single charge.
