Samsung has recently committed to providing 6-7 years of update support for its latest smartphones, but unfortunately, older models are not benefiting from this. In this context, the company has ended the software support for one of its products released in 2020.
Samsung drops software support for Galaxy Z Fold 2
Samsung has discontinued the software support for the Galaxy Z Fold 2, a foldable phone that was introduced to consumers in 2020. It last received an update in late 2023, which was based on Android 13 with the One UI 5.1.1 patch. Since then, it has only received security updates.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 will no longer receive security updates either. Reports suggest that a final update may be issued in certain regions, but the South Korean manufacturer has emphasized that it will completely terminate support for the second-generation Fold model by the end of the year.
There may be exceptions to this policy. If a significant security vulnerability is discovered, the brand might release a one-time fix. However, it should be understood that support for the device has officially ended.
Samsung has announced that the following models will receive seven years of Android and One UI update support:
- Galaxy Z Flip 6
- Galaxy Z Fold 6
- Galaxy S24 Ultra
- Galaxy S24 Plus
- Galaxy S24
- Galaxy S24 FE
- Galaxy Tab S10 Plus
- Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra
