WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform, takes steps to make the user’s job easier with the features it adds and the changes it makes. However, the change made by the application this time is not likely to be very good. According to the latest information, WhatsApp will now eat backup from Google Drive space.
Users will receive a notification 30 days before the change!
WhatsApp, one of the most used platforms in the world, entered the new year with an important change. The platform, which always makes changes considering user comfort and convenience, is on the agenda with news that does not make you smile this time.
The change in question is about backups. According to the information, WhatsApp backups will now consume the Google Drive space of Android users. The company first stated last month that backups will be moved to the Drive area.
However, it also came to the agenda as a harbinger that there will be some limits on backups. Users who are part of the WhatsApp beta test program noticed that WhatsApp backups are part of Google Drive storage limits.
If you are a free Google Drive user, the Drive capacity is 15 GB. On the other hand, if you actively use Google services such as Google Photos, Gmail and Drive, you should also pay attention to this.
There are claims that Meta will implement this change to all Android users in the first half of 2024. However, users will receive a notification 30 days before the backup change. In this way, they will be aware of it.
