Threads is back with a brand new innovation. Threads launched its web feature in August. However, there was a big shortcoming. Previously, you could only quote content you liked. Now it allows you to quote from posts on the web. X is pulling out all the stops in its competition with the old Twitter.
Quoting on Threads web is now possible!
Threads dropped like a bomb on the agenda at a time when Elon Musk changed Twitter’s logo and updated its name to X. Although it rose very fast, it almost crashed. Meta has released new updates to avoid losing users. It also transfers some features of its biggest competitor X to its own organization.
It triggered competition at a time when Twitter users were overwhelmed by X’s new features. But it had a lot of technical shortcomings. Threads web was one of them. Eventually, it heard the voice of its users. It released the web feature in August.
But it had a very important shortcoming. Quoting could not be done on the web side and retweeting could not be done in Twitter language. Although Musk also removed the retweet feature on X.
Adam Mosseri announced the good news on Thursday. You will be able to use quote posts on the web starting this week. So how can we use this feature? To quote a post, you have to click on the two arrows icon. Then simply click on the “quote” option.
Mosseri also gave another good news for Threads users on mobile. He said that users can follow a thread and receive notifications about it. Apparently, this feature is only available for Android devices. There is no announcement for iOS yet.
These may seem like small steps. But even small features can help revitalize Threads. In this way, it helps make it feel like a viable alternative to X (formerly Twitter). However, X is still very much alive despite all the sensational developments. It seems that people don’t give up their habits easily. Threads has a long way to go to replace X (formerly Twitter).
