Threads, Meta’s fast-rising X-rival social media platform, has gained a lot of momentum over the last few months. According to Mark Zuckerberg, the number of monthly active Threads users has crossed a high threshold. It has added 20 million users in 2 months, on top of the 130 million recorded in February.
Threads user count surpass 150 million
The platform has taken some remarkable steps recently. For example, Threads’ attempts to integrate into the decentralized ActivityPub protocol are noteworthy. Thanks to these initiatives, Mark Zuckerberg announced that the Threads user count has exceeded 150 million.
However, there are some uncertainties about the future of Threads. It remains unclear how much access the platform will provide to third-party developers and whether full-fledged third-party clients will be created. APIs are scheduled to be made available to a broad developer audience in June, which could open up the platform to more functionality and diverse experiences.
Threads user count update: Threads now has 190 million users!
We’ll see how Threads will integrate with Meta’s other products. Since Meta’s latest AI chatbot is not integrated into Threads, this exposes some of the platform’s shortcomings.
Among the features Threads has recently added is the ability to automatically archive users’ posts after a certain period of time. This allows users to better manage their content and access it when needed.
All these developments and growth trends show that Threads is becoming more established as a major player in the social media arena. How the platform will evolve in the coming period and how it will be positioned in the competitive landscape will become clearer over time.
