TikTok is getting more users day by day thanks to its promotions. The social media application gets updates to stay innovative. Therefore, the company is now testing a new ‘Nearby feed to promote local content to users in addition to its other two feeds. Here are the details about TikTok’s ‘Nearby’ feed.
TikTok might launch a new ‘Nearby’ feed
The popular short video platform TikTok is now testing a new ‘Nearby’ feed to display local content to users. The new feed will show the near content to the user and promote local creators. It has already two feeds that are “Following” and “For You” on the app’s homepage. The new “Nearby” feed will add to the tab on the homepage.
A TikTok spokesperson told that the select users in Southeast Asia are testing the new feed and the test is limited in scope for now. Matt Navarra, a social media consultant, reported the new feed first. The new feature will offer creators to add location tags to their videos. It is not clear for now whether the application uses the location tags to promote local content or it uses the location of the phone for the ‘Nearby’ feed.
TikTok wrote in an email,” We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience.” If the new feed comes to the social media application, it can show more personalized and relevant content to its users with the ‘Nearby‘ feed besides the “For You” and “Following” feeds. The new feed will also be related to the other feeds. That means you won’t see the content you don’t want to.
Thanks to the Nearby feed, local advertisers, companies, and businesses could get more customers. Therefore, it could be a useful feed option. TikTok is already showing in-feed ads. The small brands and companies could also give ads to reach users near.
