GAC-Toyota unveiled its new electric sedan, the bZ7, at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show. The bZ7, the second major model developed under the leadership of its engineering team in China, sheds traditional approaches, embraces critical technological collaborations, and reshapes the GAC-Toyota name.

The model heavily utilizes Huawei technology. The bZ7 is the first GAC-Toyota model to integrate Huawei’s HarmonyOS cockpit system. Inside, the driver is presented with a large central control display that serves as the command center for the entire operating system.

The cabin boasts a host of advanced features, including facial recognition, a Head-Up Display (HUD) that projects important information onto the windshield, and a multi-speaker audio system. The technological partnership continues in the powertrain. The bZ7 utilizes Huawei’s powerful DriveONE electric drive system. It seems the days of GAC-Toyota relying solely on its own components are over; When it comes to high-tech electric vehicles, collaboration is the new strategy.

The new Toyota bZ7 brings a bold and imposing presence to the road. Adopting the unified family design language that began with the bZ4X, the vehicle features a sharp and futuristic front fascia. The front end utilizes a split-headlight design, where the main headlights seamlessly integrate with the air ducts on either side. While the exaggerated front bumper may appear aggressive, it serves the important purpose of reducing wind resistance.

From the side profile, the large sedan’s long silhouette, supported by a sharp, three-dimensional waistline, is striking. It features new, semi-concealed door handles and large, dynamic wheels. Measuring 5.13 meters long, 1.96 meters wide, and 1.5 meters high, it confirms its status in the mid-large segment. The long wheelbase of 3.02 meters promises a spacious and comfortable interior.

The Huawei DriveONE electric drive system generates 207 kW (278 horsepower) and enables the sedan to reach a top speed of 180 km/h. For energy storage, it relies on durable LFP batteries supplied by GAC-Toyota CALB.

The automaker offers consumers two basic battery capacity options:

The Chinese Toyota bZ7 is ready for the future of driving thanks to its advanced assistance systems. The vehicle utilizes Momenta’s driver assistance technology and offers highly assisted driving capabilities designed for operation on both congested city roads and highways. This focus on intelligent drive systems, combined with a new platform and major technology partners, confirms that the bZ7 is entering GAC-Toyota’s full-throttle entry into the next generation of smart electric vehicles.
