Nissan brought a different vibe to the automotive market, which has been flooded with SUVs, when it introduced the new Z model in 2021. The sports car, which competes against its biggest rival, the Toyota Supra, with its twin-turbocharged V6 engine generating 406 horsepower and 475 Nm of torque, now seems to make a statement with its even more powerful Nismo version.
Nissan Z comes with a more potent engine for the Nismo version
After two years since the introduction of the iconic 370Z’s successor, all eyes were on the Nismo variant. The Nismo version presents an upgraded version of the twin-turbocharged V6 engine used in the standard model. This unit can produce 426 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque and comes with better cooling and ignition systems.
The Nismo version is 20 horsepower stronger and produces an additional 45 Nm of torque compared to the current model. However, some car enthusiasts may be disappointed that the Nismo version will only be available with an automatic transmission. The 9-speed automatic transmission, which offers two times faster gear changes with the new software, also features a launch control function.
When we look at the design, the first striking feature is the new extended nose design, reminiscent of the Fairlady 240ZG model. Additionally, we can see that the vehicle’s air intakes have been expanded to better cool the more powerful engine.
Furthermore, a red stripe that runs from one end to the other under the car emphasizes its special Nismo status. The rear spoiler, now made more pronounced to increase downforce, also stands out as another attention-grabbing detail. Nissan will offer the new Z Nismo model in 5 different colors: silver, red, black, pearl white, and Nismo-exclusive gray.
The red accents continue in the interior of the car. You can find red details on the seats, stitching, digital instrument cluster, and infotainment system screens. Additionally, the seats and steering wheel are specially designed for the Nismo version.
With the new Z Nismo, Nissan seems ready to keep the Toyota Supra awake at night. What are your thoughts on the new Nissan Z Nismo? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments section.
