Work has accelerated for the production of Toyota’s new electric SUV model bZ3C. Within the scope of the applications made to the Chinese authorities, the battery and engine details of the vehicle were leaked. The bZ3C, which attracts attention with its Prius-style design, will be powered by an electric motor produced by BYD.
Toyoto bZ3C specs revealed
According to applications filed with Chinese authorities, the vehicle will have a length of 4780 mm, a width of 1866 mm and a height of 1510 mm. The 2880 mm wheelbase indicates that the five-seater SUV will offer a spacious interior.
The bZ3C will be powered by a 268-horsepower electric motor produced by BYD’s sub-brand Fudi Power. It will also be supplied with a lithium-iron-phosphate battery from BYD’s FinDreams division. The specifications of the battery are still unclear, but it is expected to offer a range of 500-600 km.
Available with 18 and 21-inch wheels, the vehicle’s top speed will be limited to 160 km/h. On the other hand, there will be an optional laser radar for driver support functions. bZ3C’s electric platform will be developed by FAW, while the electric powertrain and battery will come from BYD.
Production of the bZ3C, the concept version of which was unveiled in April, is scheduled to start at the FAW-Toyota plant in the fourth quarter of 2024. The new model will join Toyota’s bZ4X and bZ3 models developed specifically for the Chinese market, expanding the range of electric vehicles.
Of course, it is unclear whether this model will come to the global market. For now, it should be noted that it will be exclusive to the Chinese market.
