According to a new report based on research conducted with young South Koreans under the age of 30, members of this group are switching from Android devices to iPhones. Even in Samsung’s home country, South Korea, young people are standing out in terms of transitioning from Android to iPhone. This trend, which has been observed in almost all countries recently, is also beginning to emerge in South Korea.
Young people are more enthusiastic about switching from Android to iPhone!
According to Counterpoint Research, 85% of South Koreans initially purchased an Android phone as their first smartphone. However, the report indicates that 53% of them have now switched to using an iPhone. Among young South Koreans under the age of 30 who had an iPhone as their first phone, 92% continue to use iPhones. So, when looking at the transition from a different perspective, it seems that iPhone users are not eager to switch to Android.
It appears that most young people under the age of 30 in South Korea chose Android as their first device based on affordability and their parents’ or their own purchasing power, rather than it being a matter of choice. Additionally, supporting local companies like Samsung and LG was another reason for this trend.
As for the reasons behind their transition from Android to iPhone, the top two responses were “Performance” (32%) and “Brand Image” (31%). The most significant influence on these young Korean consumers was related to the performance, satisfaction, and expectations regarding iPhone’s cameras.
Among the young South Koreans who initially purchased an iPhone as their first phone and continue to be iPhone users (92% of them), 76% stated that they do not want to use an Android phone in the future. Furthermore, 52% of them even declared that they would avoid Android phones indefinitely. The primary reason cited for this decision by most individuals was performance.
