Senior officials of the company announced that the factory will be ready for use by the end of 2027. Thus, the total investment made by the company in Japan will exceed $20 billion. Not the first TSMC Japan factory
The first TSMC Japan factory, which cost $7 billion, will open for production later this year. The location for the second factory will also be Kumamoto city, just like the first one.
TSMC, the world’s largest chip manufacturer, is expected to produce more than 100,000 units per month in Japan alone when the second TSMC Japan factory, which will start construction later this year, becomes operational. However, it is discussed that this number could be further increased depending on consumer demand.
