On the first day of Eid al-Adha, Turkey broke a record in renewable energy. On June 16, electricity generation from solar energy reached an all-time high. This represents an important milestone in Turkey’s clean energy journey.

According to the statement made by Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, 682 thousand 223 megawatts of electricity was generated across Turkey on June 16. A remarkable part of this production was solar energy with 109 thousand 501 megawatts.

This figure shows that the contribution of solar energy to daily electricity generation reached 16.05 percent. However, the real record was broken when the share of solar energy in electricity generation exceeded 44 percent during the day.
