Turkey’s second astronaut in space!

Ana sayfa / News

Turkey is preparing to take another important step in space travel. The second Turkish astronaut, Tuva Cihangir Atasever, will be launched into space from the Spaceport Center in the US on June 8. Atasever’s journey is called “Turkish Space Science Mission Suborbital Research Flight”.

Tuva Cihangir Atasever’s space mission has a different profile than previous missions to the International Space Station. Atasever, who will perform 7 different scientific experiments on this flight, will demonstrate the importance of suborbital flight.

The second astronaut said in a statement that the experiments will examine many different topics. One of them will be to examine the effect of pressures on health in the region where astronauts are exposed to microgravity.

Atasever said, “An electronic device to be placed on the forehead will be used to examine blood flow and pressure changes. These experiments will provide important information not only for space science in Turkey, but also for the health problems that astronauts around the world may face in the future.” The pressure factor is very important for the people who will live in the space stations to be built in lunar orbit.

Drawing attention to the importance of the flight in this context, Atasever will also conduct the first trial that will allow individuals with diabetes to receive the insulin they need.

The 3 experiments that Atasever will perform by spending 3 minutes in microgravity will be part of a dynamic flight. On the other hand, the whole flight will be completed in 1.5 hours. “The time we will spend in microgravity conditions will be only 3 minutes,” he said in his statement.

The space journey of the second Turkish astronaut Tuva Cihangir Atasever will help Turkey’s space exploration. Following the first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı, it will provide important information for future space journeys.
