Bayraktar TB2 performs autonomous barrel roll for the first time
Selçuk Bayraktar shared that TB2 performed a barrel roll maneuver autonomously. This is an unprecedented feat for UCAVs. TB2 also marks the beginning of a new era in this field.
The barrel roll represents a challenging maneuver involving rotation around its own axis, usually performed by fighter jets. Baykar, on the other hand, aroused curiosity with a video showing the TB2 successfully performing this maneuver three times in a row.
The ability to perform the barrel roll maneuver demonstrates the TB2’s maneuvering capabilities and the sophistication of its autonomous control system. This development also shows that UCAVs can be used more agilely and effectively on the battlefield.
The TB2 UCAV has been in the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces for many years and has taken part in many different operations. In addition to the Turkish Armed Forces, it is also used by the Turkish National Police and the Gendarmerie General Command.
In addition, the number of countries shaking hands with Baykar to purchase TB2s has increased to 32. The total number of UCAVs produced (including the production line) has reached 500. In other words, Turkish aircraft are flying over many countries from Asia to Europe and even Africa.
The national UCAV, which broke Turkey’s altitude record with 27 hours and 3 minutes in the tactical class in the history of Turkish aviation with the longest time in the air and 27 thousand 30 feet in altitude, went down in the history of Turkish aviation with 750 thousand hours of flight.
