Last March, Twitch officially acknowledged various issues and design flaws in its mobile app and promised a complete overhaul in the near future. Today, Twitch management announced that the significant changes are imminent.
Twitch App to Be More Modern
While most viewing time on Twitch comes from the desktop app and web platform, over 50% of the audience uses the mobile app. According to Twitch’s published figures, 40% of these mobile users have never visited Twitch through any other medium.
Almost all the changes listed about six months ago have been implemented. The player has been completely redesigned. Additionally, the ‘Explore’ window now offers a more stable and modern user interface.
Twitch also officially introduced a few features that can be directly accessed from the mobile app’s homepage.
Here are the features:
- Users can tap the follow tab in the top left corner to see who is live from their followed channels.
- Swipe to access the Clips section for instant viewing.
- Access an Instagram-like Stories panel to see what followed streamers are up to.
This extensive redesign package for the Twitch app will be available to both iOS and Android users starting this week.
