Twitch brings Charity Mode to serve a good cause

It is always nice to collect donations for a good cause. Twitch came up with good news. According to a blog post published on Tuesday, Twitch has started closed beta testing for a new built-in charity feature. The Charity feature aims to make more accessible fundraising process helpful streams.

No deductions will made for donations gathered

Donations will be processed through the PayPal Giving Fund and can be tracked from both the stream screen and the stream chat. Traditionally, donations were gathered through viewers, subscribers, or Bits, and then the creator would turn to a third-party charity platform to send that donation to the relevant organization. Thanks to this feature, Twitch will make things easier by eliminating the third party in between.

“For creators, it makes raising money for important causes easier and transparent,” Twitch wrote in a blog post. “For viewers, supporting those causes should be simpler, clearer, and more impactful.” Third parties get interruption by donations gathered. Twitch, however, will allow 100 percent of donations collected by creators to be donated.

Nearly 200 charities were invited to the closed beta. Twitch also said it plans to add more. Streamers can nominate any charity they want to be added to this list. Creators can find the new fundraising options in the creator dashboard’s new “charity” section.

Creators to be counted in the closed beta will be chosen randomly. For everyone else, Twitch expects to unveil the feature to most partners and affiliates later this year. Twitch has made us happy with this news. Remember that no deduction will be made from the donations gathered. Twitch also noted that they would not receive a tax incentive. Let’s not forget that this feature will be accessible to all creators in the coming periods.
