Twitter app renamed to X; ‘tweet’ replaced with ‘post’

Ana sayfa / Social Media

Twitter’s rebranding as X continues apace. Elon Musk, who recently changed the logo on Twitter.com and replaced the company account with @X, has finally updated the Android and iOS app. Within the scope of the latest update, the name of the application has been changed to “X” and “post” has started to be used instead of “tweet”.

Twitter Android/iOS app has been updated

The X branding first appeared in the Twitter for Android app earlier this week. The changes were shared as part of version 10.1.0-beta.1. Accordingly, the application will now only have the name “X” and the icon has been changed to the letter X.

In addition to the logo change, the tweet expression was also removed in the application. Accordingly, it was changed to “post” throughout the application. This change can be seen on the profile page, where the “Tweets” tab is now “Posts”.

Someone creates Chrome extension to restore Twitter’s bird logo

It's still possible to use the old Twitter logo. You can remove the X with an extension for Google Chrome.

The app’s package name is still com.twitter.android. However, for a new package name, a completely new application must be published in the Play Store. This shows that Elon Musk wants to work gradually on rebranding.

On the other hand, dark mode has become the default interface for the app. While the dark blue “Dim” dark mode is still available, the default mode will be the much blacker “Lights out” theme.

As Elon Musk continues to erase Twitter’s iconic brand, the beta version is expected to be released for the stable version soon. After more than a decade, Twitter is undergoing both a visual and cultural transformation, which is a big change for the platform.
