Twitter, owned by Elon Musk, is working to strengthen the video side of the platform. As shown by Twitter designer Andrea Conway, new video features will soon be included in the mobile versions of the platform. Among the features that will come through the menu design is the ability to download videos. In addition, the menu will also include the ability to toggle subtitles on and off, change the playback speed (which is currently in a different location), share videos, and report videos.
Twitter wants to make its video panel more varied
Overall, this new infrastructure looks useful. It is not yet known when this infrastructure will be available to everyone. Also, since the design is ready, it doesn’t seem too far away. Elon Musk has been paying serious attention to the video side of the platform recently. Elon Musk is doing his best to ensure that people spend longer time on the app, which now has a new CEO. Musk wants this because this way he can make more money from Twitter.
Meanwhile, an important video step was taken recently. Until now, paid Twitter Blue subscribers could upload videos of around 60 minutes (1080p) to the platform. The maximum file size of these videos was 2 GB. This infrastructure was only supported on the web and now also on iOS. The infrastructure was updated last week. Blue subscribers will now be able to upload videos of approximately 2 hours (1080p) to the platform. These videos can be up to 8 GB in size.
Twitter does not want to go to 4K in terms of video quality. Because it considers server costs. The platform pays more attention to videos after Elon Musk. The company also seems to want to gradually become a strong alternative to YouTube.
