Ana sayfa / Social Media

Twitter is preparing to open its source code, all used to recommend tweets for a long time. In February, Elon Musk announced that the algorithm used on the popular social media platform will become open source. Now, the Twitter CEO announced a new date for the open-source code of the “Special For You” section. According to Musk’s tweet, Twitter will open source all code used to recommend tweets on March 31st. Here are the details about Twitter’s open-source code…

Elon Musk says Twitter will open source code of recommendation algorithm

The Twitter CEO, Elon Musk, announced that the company would open the recommendation algorithm code on February 21 in a post on Twitter. However, the company didn’t keep its promise and didn’t release the source codes of the “Special For You” section. Today, Musk shared a post again saying, “Twitter will open source all code used to recommend tweets on March 31st.” While the CEO doesn’t give any other details, he just said they are still working on the codes.

Elon Musk says, “Our “algorithm” is overly complex & not fully understood internally. People will discover many silly things, but we’ll patch issues as soon as they’re found! We’re developing a simplified approach to serve more compelling tweets, but it’s still a work in progress. That’ll also be open source. Providing code transparency will be incredibly embarrassing at first, but it should lead to rapid improvement in recommendation quality. Most importantly, we hope to earn your trust.”

Since Musk became the owner of the popular social media platform, he made a lot of changes, including banning third-party apps like Tweetbot and Twitterrific, paid subscription service, and more. He is also trying to improve the platform with new features and improvements.

Additionally, Musk announced earlier that the platform would launch its API. While it’s been a long time waiting, we know that they’re working on the API launch. Twitter says, “Over the years, hundreds of millions of people have sent over a trillion tweets, with billions more every week. Twitter data are among the world’s most powerful data sets. We’re committed to enabling fast & comprehensive access, so you can continue to build with us.”
