Twitter to end Revue newsletter platform in 2023

Ana sayfa / Social Media

Twitter has announced that it will shut down Revue, the newsletter platform it bought last year, early in 2023. “From January 12th, 2023, it will no longer be possible to access your Revue account,” the company said in a statement. “On that date, Revue will shut down and all data will be deleted.”

Twitter to shut down newsletter platform Revue in early 2023

Twitter’s acquisition of Revue at the beginning of 2021 was seen as a natural extension of its platform, as paid newsletters were becoming increasingly popular at the time. The company quickly integrated the two platforms, adding Revue signup buttons to Twitter profiles and rolling out a feature that allowed users to sign up for Revue newsletters directly from tweets.

However, the popularity of paid newsletters has since declined, and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has said that one of his goals for the company is to simplify the app. As a result, several features, including Moments and “tweeted from” labels, have been removed in recent weeks, and it is not surprising to see Revue also being discontinued.

If you use Revue to run a paid newsletter, Twitter will set all paid subscriptions to cancel at the end of their billing cycle on December 20th, in order to prevent subscribers being charged for content that will no longer be available after the platform shuts down.

The decision to shut down Revue comes amid broader changes at Twitter, as Dorsey seeks to streamline the platform and focus on core features. The company has been under pressure to improve its financial performance and boost user engagement, and simplifying the app is seen as one way to achieve these goals.

For users of Revue, the shutdown of the platform will mean that they will no longer be able to access their accounts or send newsletters after January 12th, 2023. All data associated with their Revue accounts will be deleted at that time. Twitter has not announced any plans to provide an alternative platform for users of Revue.
