Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter marked the beginning of a new era. He made significant changes to Twitter, altering its name, logo, and security policies. With radical transformations, he rebranded it as ‘X,’ signifying ‘everything.’ New features were introduced, and it even became a competitor to LinkedIn. However, even with these changes, X couldn’t halt the decline in its daily active user count. As time passes, X continues to lose ground. Here are the details…
(Twitter) X is Losing Daily Active User!
Since Musk took over Twitter and rebranded it as X, the platform has lost millions of daily active users. One of the key factors contributing to this decline is Musk’s unpopular updates that have not resonated well with users. Initially, he announced plans to introduce voice and video calling features to X. Later, he specified that this feature would be exclusive to X Premium subscribers.
The daily post view limit also didn’t sit well with active users. Factors such as the platform’s transformation into a data center for artificial intelligence and changes in its privacy policy have played a role. Additionally, there are rumors circulating that the platform will gradually become a paid service.
Unfortunately, many users have started to migrate to different platforms due to these developments. In fact, Musk’s updates have greatly benefited rival platforms the most. If this trend continues, Threads will likely be the most profitable application in this situation.
X CEO Linda Yaccarino spoke at a technology conference earlier this week. Yaccarino shared that the company currently has 225 million daily active users. Unfortunately, there has been a significant decrease in user numbers since the change of ownership.
There has been a 11.6% decrease in the number of users compared to just before Musk’s acquisition. This is proof of losing tens of millions of users. Before its acquisition at the end of November last year, Twitter had 254.5 million daily active users, a fact Elon Musk himself shared.
