He also added that the platform will be distinguished with different colors for organizations and individuals. Musk continues to make decisions for the fate of Twitter. Twitter Blue subscription will not resume on November 29
The Twitter Blue subscription, normally expected to restart on November 29, has been postponed for an indefinite period this time. Elon Musk states that they must first prevent fake users. It was already criticized that fake accounts belonging to the same user also received blue checkmarks. However, officially verified accounts started to receive new checkmarks in different colors according to their categories.
The famous verified mark, or as Musk calls it, the “Blue Verified,” was previously reserved for real accounts of famous names, including politicians, celebrities, journalists, and other public figures. However, Elon Musk introduced a subscription option where anyone willing to pay can be given the blue check. The change came a week after Musk took over the social media company in a $44 billion deal.
The paid subscription service led to a plethora of pranksters creating imposter accounts on Twitter. It left the platform even more ripe for misinformation. Many cheaply acquired checkmarks were used to impersonate brands, politicians, and celebrities with unflattering messages.
The impersonation of accounts such as Lebron James, Eli Lily, and Nintendo led companies such as General Motors, General Mills, Audi, Volkswagen, and advertising companies such as Omnicom Media Group to stop advertising on the platform.
