Uber is rolling out a new widget that allows you to quickly call rides on iOS devices. The new feature is now available to all users of the app in the latest version. So what does this widget do and how does it work? Here are the details…
How does the new Uber widget for iOS work?
Uber’s new widget has two buttons. One of them functions for your home address and the other for work. When you tap them, the application opens with a request for a journey to the relevant location, bypassing the address selection step.
Uber makes the following statement about the new iOS widget:
‘Your time is very precious, especially during the holiday rush. That’s why we’re making it easier than ever for you to request a ride. Starting today, iPhone users can add a new Uber widget to their home screen to request a ride more easily with just two taps.’
After touching the address, select the nearest car, check the price and start ordering a journey. In addition, Uber is also launching the Uber XXL category, which includes cars with larger luggage compartments, ideal for situations where you plan to travel with a large group of people or a large number of suitcases. UberXXL is available on routes covering more than 60 airports worldwide.
Another new feature is ride sharing with an additional passenger in the same quota. This option is available for journeys to airports and offers a fare discount of up to 25 per cent compared to Uber X.
To make sure you don’t miss your boarding time, the Uber app also allows you to add flight information to get advice on when to leave home, book a ride and much more.
