Ubiquiti Networks is branching deeper into network-attached storage with fresh hardware for both home users and rackmount setups. The new lineup includes the compact UNAS 2, the larger UNAS 4, and three rackmount options under the UNAS Pro label.
UNAS 2 targets entry-level users
The UNAS 2 is a small two-bay NAS that loads 3.5-inch drives from the bottom. It connects via 2.5GbE, which also supports PoE++ power delivery though Ubiquiti includes a power adapter in the box. File access works through SMB/CIFS and NFS protocols, while a USB-C 5Gbps port allows expansion with drives formatted in FAT32, exFAT, NTFS, or EXT4.
As an affordable starter NAS, the UNAS 2 skips hot-swapping and disk encryption. Users who need those features will have to step up to the UNAS Pro line. The device is already available at $199 through Ubiquiti’s official store.
UNAS 4 offers more storage and SSD flexibility
For buyers seeking more capacity, the UNAS 4 bumps things up to four drive bays plus two M.2 SSD slots, accessible from the rear. It’s a higher 90W power draw that requires PoE+++ or the included adapter. Pricing is set at $379, but sales haven’t opened yet.
UNAS Pro lineup brings rackmount flexibility
Ubiquiti is also targeting network cabinets with the UNAS Pro series. The lineup includes:
- UNAS Pro (7 bays) – 2U form factor, 13-inch depth, available now for $799
- UNAS Pro 4 – 1U height, 15.7-inch depth, 4 bays, release in Q4 2025
- UNAS Pro 8 – larger rack option, release in Q4 2025
These models add hot-swapping and encryption support, positioning them as more professional-grade solutions.
Ubiquiti pushes into serious NAS territory
From the $199 starter-friendly UNAS 2 to rackmount-ready Pro systems, Ubiquiti now has a clearer storage strategy. While some models won’t arrive until late 2025, the mix of compact and professional options shows the company is serious about becoming more than a networking brand.
For anyone already running UniFi gear, these NAS systems could be the missing piece in Ubiquiti’s expanding ecosystem.
