We’ve seen examples of publishers not bringing their games to Steam after switching to their own platform. However, after a certain amount of time has passed, some of these publishers are making their way back to Steam and adding their games back to Steam one by one. Ubisoft is one of them. The games will arrive on December 6th.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Anno 1800, and Roller Champion are among the upcoming games
The last Ubisoft game released on Steam was Trials Rising in 2019. Since then, the publisher has released new PC games exclusively on the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect. Also, Ubisoft has avoided making a statement on when they will return to Steam. However, looking at Steam’s store page and the data collected from the codes of the Ubisoft client, we see that Ubisoft will bring its games back to Steam.
Some rumors suggest that the Steam versions of these games will still require the Ubisoft Connect client. So this integration will be necessary. Ubisoft’s Epic Games Store releases include Ubisoft Connect integration, and the Steam version of Rainbow Six Siege relies heavily on Ubisoft’s account system and client. Another reason Ubisoft may be on its way back to Steam is that going back to Steam is something that major publishers have been used to doing recently. EA, Microsoft, and Activision have all returned one by one after leaving Steam for a while.
“We’re constantly evaluating how to bring our games to different audiences wherever they are, while providing a consistent player ecosystem through Ubisoft Connect,” a Ubisoft representative told Eurogamer. “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Anno 1800, and Roller Champions are among the Ubisoft titles that will be releasing on Steam.” Also, Ubisoft is planning to launch Assassin’s Creed Mirage in 2023, alongside titles such as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and the oft-delayed pirate game Skull and Bones.
