Ubisoft tried to make NFTs work in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint to join the ranks of blackchain games in recent years. However, Ubisoft was unsuccessful and started working on a new game. Earlier this month, the company announced the NFT game Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles.
The NFT game that came quietly: Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles
After a failed attempt at NFT gaming two years ago, Ubisoft released its new game Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles without any advertising or launch. It’s interesting to note that the new NFT game was released the week after Ubisoft announced that it was disbanding the team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Coming in the wake of NFTs losing popularity, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles is a computer strategy game in which players build teams of champions to rise through the ranks. Each team attacks the weaknesses of the enemy team. At the start of each round, players roll dice to determine the order of battle. Before the battle is played simultaneously, players choose an ability for their champion. This game continues until one team defeats the other, and then the process is repeated again.
The game also has an NFT part. Champions are the NFTs of the game, which are associated with the Oasys blockchain. To earn champions, the first option is to play the game and the second option is to buy the champion from the in-game marketplace. Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, the cheapest NFT champion costs 7 USD, while the most expensive character costs approximately 63,000 USD. These prices include a 6 percent commission that Ubisoft receives under the name of royalties. Currently, there are approximately 2,700 active listings in the game.
Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, the more champions the player has, the higher the VIP level in the game. The higher the player’s VIP level, the more experience points and in-game currency the player earns. This encourages some players to accumulate champions and others to spend money. The game also offers a special collection of NFTs called warlords. Having a warlord unlocks access to special events.
