Gaming giant Ubisoft has officially launched the Ubisoft Teammates project, taking its AI technologies a step further. This new system offers intelligent teammates who assist players on the field, rather than just talking bots.
What does the Ubisoft Teammates project offer?
Developed by the company’s La Forge team, this project takes previous AI research to a much higher level. Instead of keeping this technology behind closed doors, Ubisoft is opening it up to the player experience. The project directly tests the impact of generative AI on gameplay.
In this new prototype, AI characters don’t just engage in dialogue. They analyze the situation and make tactical decisions. For example, if you’re moving stealthily, they remain silent. When combat begins, they immediately take cover and protect you.
The system constantly monitors the player’s movements. If you play aggressively, your teammate adapts. This development makes the long-awaited dream of a “realistic companion” in gaming a reality.
This exclusive experience is currently available to a limited group of players. To participate in the PC-only prototype, you must register. Participants are also required to sign a confidentiality agreement. Ubisoft aims to perfect the system using player data.
