Ubisoft has made layoffs for the third time this year: Is the gaming industry collapsing?

Ana sayfa / News

Ubisoft, one of the big names in the gaming world, made layoffs for the third time in 2024. The company laid off a total of 45 employees at Ubisoft San Francisco and Red Storm Entertainment studios. This decision was made to align with Ubisoft’s future business and development goals. It was stated that the laid-off employees will be offered comprehensive support without discrimination.

Ubisoft’s forced decision is part of a restructuring process at two of its key studios. Ubisoft San Francisco was known for its XDefiant project, while Red Storm Entertainment was known for the canceled The Division: Heartland. Ubisoft’s layoffs from these projects coincide with the company’s decision to redirect resources to bigger opportunities.

Last May, Ubisoft canceled The Division: Heartland, ending three years of work on the project. At the time, the company shifted some staff to XDefiant and Rainbow Six. Ubisoft also laid off 33 employees at its Toronto studio this year. The company plans to focus on big projects like Assassin’s Creed and Star Wars Outlaws to achieve its future success goals.

In addition to layoffs, Ubisoft is also making strategic moves to address financial constraints and the lack of a big hit game. The company plans to release a new installment of Assassin’s Creed Shadows in November, set in Japan. It is also focusing on long-awaited projects such as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake and Splinter Cell. In addition to these projects, Ubisoft will also release Star Wars Outlaws in a few weeks.

The legendary horror game is back on sale after years!

Capcom is re-releasing the original Resident Evil 2 after many years. This version will also be compatible with modern systems!
